Challenge?
J - JOURNAL
Spend about 15-20 minutes journaling to God.
Tell Him what’s on your heart and talk to Him like you would a friend. I start my entries with “Hi Jesus”. I tell Him about things I’m worried about, prayer requests, what I want to see change in my life, what I’m struggling with, my dreams, etc. The more you let God into how you’re thinking & feeling - the more you allow Him to help you in those areas & the less alone you’ll feel to accomplish them. Nothing is off limits. Your thoughts are safest with Him.
E - EXPERIENCE
Spend another 15-20 minutes sitting in His presence & experiencing His love.
Put on some worship music & take some time to just listen & worship. You just gave God your heart in the journaling, now it’s time for Him to show you His. This is a time to experience His power, which is what will equip & enable you to not only get all your needs met by Him, but to develop your relationship as well.
S - STUDY
Take 5 minutes to write down the verse of the day & say it out loud. You can use a VOTD (verse of the day) from one of my plans featured in my journal or choose your own!
Take some time to try & memorize it. There is so much power when we memorize scripture because we can use it as a weapon when the enemy tries to whisper lies in our ears. It reminds us of what God says when we forget. God’s truth has power over every evil thing.
U - UNDERSTAND
Take 10-15 minutes to understand the verse of the day.
It’s easy for the Bible to just feel like a bunch of words until we’re actually intentional about understanding it and applying it to our lives. Pray before this portion & ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand anything He wants you to know.
Ask yourself these three questions:
What does this verse teach me about God?
What does this verse teach me about myself?
How can I apply this verse to my life?
S - SPEAK
Take 5 minutes to gather everything you’ve experienced up until this point & put it into a prayer.
Use your words to declare the verse of the day over your life, add prayer requests & stand in agreement with God’s truth. Life and death is in the power of your tongue. Use your words to speak God’s truth over your life, so you can stand confidently in the authority you have in Jesus.
